This family-owned wine estate was first bought by the Steytler
Family in 1946. It wasn’t until 1984, that the first estate wine
was bottled under the Kaapzicht label. Though
white wine was bottled first, it is the Estate's red wine which is most
renowned.
Kaapzicht is undoubtedly a family affair with several of the Steytler
family involved in the running of the Estate: Danie Steytler is the
winemaker, George, his brother is the viticulturist, Yngvild (Danie’s
wife) is the Export Manager and Mandy (George’s wife), hires out
the functions venue and the self-catering cottage
Danie Steytler is not just a Master Winemaker, his wine making is his
passion. Danie lives for creating the perfect wine, and with this dedication
he has managed to put together a range of wine that challenges the best.
Kaapzicht’s objective is to strive for
quality and value for money wines, and this has contributed to its growth.
The standard of wine is reflected by the numerous accolades awarded
to the Estate.Kaapzicht has expanded its range
with a Kaapzicht Grape Husk Brandy, and the three-year-old
French Oak matured Kaapzicht Brandy.
The Vineyard Cottage, which is nestled amongst
the vines, is a quaint two-roomed self-catering cottage with large veranda
and outdoor braai. Enjoy bird watching, wine tasting, horse rides or
country walks and experience the view that brought Kaapzicht
its name.
The public is most welcome to visit us and taste our large range of wines. There should be something for everyone's taste! On appointment Danie will show you the cellar and you are also welcome to go for a walk in the vineyards to see the splendid view for yourself.
